Market Update: October 2016

The Montreal Real Estate Board shared the latest market update for last month’s market performance, and according to its press release  this was the best October in 7 years

October 2016 Market overview

Last month’s overall sales were up by 8%, compared to those of October 2015. A total of 3,083 sales residential transactions were concluded in October 2016. Condo sales took the lead with a 13% increase , plexes 12% and houses 5%.

Median prices:

  • Single family homes $302,500, a 1% increase from prices in October last year.
  • Condos $245,000,  a 2% increase.
  • Plexes  $460,000, a 1% increase compared to same month in 2015.

It is important to mention that these figures reflect the total for the Montreal Metropolitan Area market activity, which includes the data from all the islands; Montreal, North shore, Laval, South shore and Vaudreuil-soulanges. The specific market information for the island of Montreal alone and/or specific neighbourhoods (ei. Ville-Marie, Plateau, Westmount) will change accordingly.
